Daily Care at a Glance

Exercise

Staffies need around 60 minutes of daily exercise plus play and mental stimulation. Walks, tug games, obedience work and structured play suit them well. Without enough activity they can become destructive, overexcited or mouthy.

Grooming

The short coat is low maintenance and easy to care for. Weekly brushing and occasional baths are usually enough to keep the coat healthy. Moderate seasonal shedding is normal.

Training

Staffies are intelligent but strong-willed. Positive reinforcement, consistency and early socialisation are essential. They respond best to engaging training that feels rewarding rather than repetitive or harsh.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier Story

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is one of the most misunderstood breeds in the dog world. Behind the muscular frame and powerful build is a deeply affectionate companion known for loyalty, humour and an almost obsessive love of people. Originally developed in England from bulldog and terrier lines, the modern Staffy has evolved into a confident, people-focused family dog that thrives on closeness and involvement.

Staffies are playful, emotionally expressive and full of personality. They form intense bonds with their humans and are happiest when included in daily life rather than left alone in the backyard. Many are excellent with children and incredibly tolerant within a loving home environment.

They are, however, still terriers. Staffies can be stubborn, energetic and occasionally reactive toward other dogs, especially if poorly socialised. They need structure, exercise and confident guidance. In the right home, they become affectionate shadows with enormous hearts and enough personality to completely take over a household.
